Live stream of the National Earthquake Memorial event, Christchurch 2017
This week saw the sixth anniversary of the Christchurch Earthquake, a day that changed the lives of many Cantabrians forever. Tandem Studios proudly worked as the live streaming partnet for the main service, held at the new Earthquake Memorial Wall on Oxford Terrace.
Our team worked alongside Multicam Television to produce live streams for the main service and private service at Avonhead Cemetery. The main service was screened both along the scenic riverfront setting and live streamed through YouTube, which was linked and embedded to multiple media websites, including The Press, Stuff.co.nz, and Newsie.co.nz. The live stream, after only one day, has so far been viewed more than 12,000 times on YouTube.
Additionally, our team did some extra filming of the main service and put together a highlights video.
We also cut multiple individual clips and webcast of the main parts of the memorial service, allowing easier sharing through social media. Highlights included the emotional performance of Marlon Williams singing "Now is the hour"
...the unveiling of the wall itself, and a moving tribute of "The Lone Piper" walking along the face of the wall. For all the performances, speeches, and the full live stream, click here.
Our live streaming team are proud to have been a part of this event. We have since received comments from some who couldn't make the service, thanking all those involved as it helped them be a part of the memorial from a distance. This event proves the power of live streaming.
